Growing Tips & Maintenance
- Bearberry is sometimes difficult to transplant and establish. It needs an acidic, sandy soil. Pruning should be necessary only when maintaining the plant along borders or edges. May develop winter burn on the leaves if under stress.
Additional Notes
- Native to OntarioLarval host for some butterfly species and pollen and nectar source for native bees, hummingbirds and butterflies. The berries are indeed enjoyed by bears, as well as other mammals and a host of birds.
