Dahlias are fascinating plants, available in a wide array of shapes, sizes and colours made possible by their vast genetic diversity.
Dahlias have been hybridized for hundreds of years, creating many of the old varieties we know and love. But, as time changes, so do the needs of today's Dahlia growers.
Today's growers need plants that produce an abundance of quality blooms and can navigate changing climate circumstances.
Having grown and bred Dahlias commercially for more than 10 years I am always looking at them with a critical eye, wondering where they could go next. For me, Dahlia breeding isn't about replacing what already exists, it's about pushing things forward. Each new variety is an opportunity to take what works and make it even better, more resilient and more suited to the needs of the growers of today and tomorrow.
Dahlia breeding is a long and continual process, often taking several years to bring a variety from concept to sale. It can take more than three years to go from seed to a production ready Dahlia variety, so intentional crosses are made every year. Through targeted pollination, careful selection and extensive trialling Easy Grow Cut Dahlias were born in Southern Ontario.
Easy Grow Cut Dahlias are available as plants in 1 and 2 gallon pots. This means easier planting, earlier blooms and a longer production window. Featuring new and exciting varieties suited for cut flower production, Easy Grow Cut Dahlias are designed to produce an abundance of blooms and successfully navigate changing climate conditions, resulting in increased value and more peace of mind for growers.

HOW TO PLANT
How should I care for my Dahlia plant after receiving it?
Dahlia plants should be promptly removed from the shipping box. They may be a little bit tired after their journey and require a little TLC. Ensure the pots have sufficient moisture and place pots somewhere warm (15-18C) and out of direct sunlight for a few hours to allow your plants time to acclimatize to their new environment before planting.
For optimal results transplant your Dahlias within 7-10 days of receiving.
Do I have to transplant my Dahlia plants?
Yes! Your Dahlias are shipped in a nursery growing pot and must be transplanted for optimal growing results. This includes planting them in the ground, in garden beds, large containers etc. They are also great additions to landscapes and border plantings.
How do I transplant my Dahlia plants?
- Ensure all chances of frost have passed.
- Select a well draining site that receives full sun to part shade (6+hrs of sunlight). Plants that do not receive enough sunlight may not bloom.
- Ensure adequate moisture in your Dahlias prior to removing the nursery pot.
- Dig a hole deep enough to accommodate the entire root ball, and ensure the roots are entirely covered.
- Water well after planting.
How should I water my Dahlia plants?
Regular water is required for optimal plant growth and bloom production. It is best practice to water earlier or later in the day, to avoid watering in the high heat of the day.
The amount of water and frequency of watering will depend on your specific planting location, climate, and soil type.
FAQS
What am I buying?
expand_more
You will receive a 1 or 2 gallon plant. The plant will be rooted with green foliage.
Is this an annual?
expand_more
Dahlias are grown as annuals because they aren’t frost-tolerant. While they produce stunning blooms from summer to fall, their tubers won’t survive freezing temperatures unless lifted and stored indoors, making them a seasonal favourite in cooler climates.
How many flowers will I get?
expand_more
Once established each plant will have 3-5 tubers. Each tuber will have 3 flowers.
When will they bloom?
