Growing Tips & Maintenance
- Aristolochia grows best in an average to moist well-drained soil, in full sun to partial shade. Prune after flowering to maintain the desired size. Dislikes winter wet but usually adapts well to most conditions. Strong supports may be necessary.
Additional Notes
- Native to areas near our nursery.PRIMARY larval host for Pipevine Swallowtail Butterfly. The caterpillars feed on the leaves, and toxins in the plant build up in the caterpillars, rendering them in that stage and the next, repulsive to predators. The unusual flowers give off an odour that attracts flies and gnats, which are the main pollinators.
