- A vigorous shrub tolerating many different soil and light conditions. Suckering freely, it is excellent for re-naturalization. Typically grown as a shrub, it can also be grown into a tree form.

- Native to Ontario and parts of North America.Larval host for a plethora of butterflies and moths, including the Spring Azure and Summer Azure. The flowers produce nectar for butterflies, bees, moths and other insects. The high-fat berries are enjoyed by over 100 species of birds, as well as large and small mammals.
