Growing Tips & Maintenance
- Pussy willow grows best in a moist soil and is suitable for wetland edges or riverbanks. Often cultivated for its silvery catkins that are widely used in floral arrangements. Can be cut back heavily every few years to encourage vigorous new growth.
Additional Notes
- Native to Ontario Contains salicin and was used by Native Americans as a painkiller. Of special value to native bees. Important host for the larval stage of Mourning Cloak and Viceroy butterflies.
