Grow in a fertile, moist soil, in full sun or partial shade. Somewhat tolerant of drought conditions, and even some road salt. Prune Veronicastrum back in early summer to increase branching and bloom count. This may also help prevent the plant from flopping over late in the season.

Native to OntarioLarval host for Culver's Root Borer Moth. Many bees visit the flowers, collecting pollen and nectar, along with butterflies, moths, and flies.
